I was born in Edmonton, Canada in 1930 but have been living on the west coast (Vancouver, B.C. area) since I was 10 years old. I started working in the bookbinding (printing) trade when I was 15 years old and retired from it at age 65.

I have been happily married for 42 years to my lovely wife Erna. We have two sons, also happily married and they each, with their wives, have a son and a daughter. Both families live within 4 km of our home so we get to spend a lot of fun time with the grandchildren.

I have been interested in recreational mathematics since I was a teen, when I started collecting books, puzzles, and number patterns on the subject. Also, this was the time computers were starting to be played up in the popular press and I got hooked on them. As a result, in the early 50's I was building what I called 'Intelligent machines' but in reality were simple special purpose computers made from switches batteries & pilot lights, to solve particular math logic puzzles.

Now my hobby has evolved to using personal computers to investigate
mathematical patterns and just recently, to publish them on the WWW.

Harvey passed away in Surrey, B.C., Canada, on the 6th of July 2013. See this page.
