Paulsen is a professor at Arkansas State University. He got his
Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis.He has written a modern
algebra textbook using Mathematica notebooks, called "Interactive
Group and Ring Theory". This text goes through the entire two
semester sequence of abstract algebra using Mathematica to do the dirty
work of creating the multiplication tables, finding subgroups and subrings,
and even the Galois groups of a polynomial.
He is married, and has a son on the way (due Jan 6). His
hobbies include chess, coin collecting, and logic puzzles
